About Me

My name is AJ White, and I am a student pursuing a career in civil engineering with a focus on structural engineering and a minor in environmental engineering. I am from New York and have developed a strong interest in construction, design, and how structures function in real-world environments.

My journey toward civil engineering comes from a strong interest in building, problem-solving, and understanding how structures work. One of the key experiences that first introduced me to engineering was participating in Project Lead The Way (PLTW) during high school. Through this program, I was able to explore engineering concepts and develop an early interest in design, construction, and how structures function in real-world environments.

As I move forward, my goal is to gain hands-on experience in construction and engineering after graduation. I want to continue developing my skills and work on real-world projects that allow me to contribute to meaningful infrastructure. In the long term, I aspire to become a professional civil engineer specializing in structural systems, helping design and build structures that are safe, efficient, and beneficial to society.

Outside of academics, I am actively involved in several student organizations, including NAACP, WEPA (a Latin performance organization), sing with Ebony Impact Gospel Choir, and King In You, a group focused on helping young college students develop into strong, responsible individuals. These experiences have helped me build leadership, teamwork, and personal development skills.

In my free time, I enjoy playing the trombone, reading books, and boxing. These activities help me stay disciplined, creative, and focused. As I complete my studies, my goal is to gain hands-on experience in construction and engineering and prepare for opportunities after graduation.

Fun fact: I consider myself a “jack of all trades” because I enjoy learning different skills and pushing myself to grow in multiple areas of life.
